What Is Credo Recovery?
Credo Recovery is a dynamic FOURTH DAY COMMUNITY established from the Cursillo and Kairos Model. It is designed to help men and women who desire recovery from addiction through the power of Jesus Christ. Credo is a highly structured community-building method centered upon a team approach to a Weekend Retreat. The Weekend retreat grows out of a strong Pre-Weekend Team Formation, and concludes with Bi-Monthly Post Weekend follow-up meetings. The ministry is led by lay persons with assistance from ordained clergy.
Credo Recovery is delivered in facilities labeled as camps, retreat centers, rescue missions, or Adult Rehabilitation Centers like those at the Salvation Army. Credo Recovery is a team effort that begins with approximately 30 hours of spiritual team formation before engaging the new participants in a 3 day event. The 3 day event is followed with a planned program of Bi-weekly instructional reunions, monthly reunions, weekly prayer and share accountability groups.
What Does Credo Recovery Do?
The Credo Recovery Movement, like the other flourishing FOURTH DAY Movements, which have sprung from the Cursillo root, are based upon the teachings of Jesus from the New Testament. Credo focuses on seeking intimate friendship with God in order to break unhealthy attachments and addictions.
Credo’s goals are similar to all the other Fourth Day Communities formed around the Cursillo Method. Our goals are designed to offer redemption, teach spiritual disciplines for developing personal devotion to God through Jesus Christ and encourage love of self and others through Christian Community.
Statement of Beliefs
We believe and profess our faith in one Triune God – The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28.19)
We believe and profess that Jesus Christ is the only Savior, and is God in the flesh. (John 1:1, 1:14, 14:6, Heb. 2:17)
We believe and profess that the Holy Spirit is God, and is The Lord and Giver of Life, who continues to work today in believers to sanctify, edify, and empower the whole Christian church on earth for His purposes. (Acts 1:18, John 14:26, Rom. 8:11, and Job 33:4)
We believe and profess that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired and completely true Word of God. (II Tim. 3:16-17).
We believe and profess that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, that forgiveness of sins is received through confession and repentance, and that our sins are washed away through the blood of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 3:23, Acts 2:38, I John 1:9)
We believe and profess that salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through the personal faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8).
We believe and profess that the Body of Christ is to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God. (Ephesians 4:3, 4:13)
We believe and profess that God’s unconditional love, as made manifest to us through Jesus Christ, is the primary witness by which people are renewed, edified, and changed. (I Corinthians 13:8)
We believe and profess that God has called us to live holy lives that will bring glory to His name. (Col. 3:1-25)
